I recently got back from a wonderful trip. I visited the ‘Pearl of Africa’ Uganda for two consecutive nights. I was invited to perform at the annual Bayimba Festival of the Arts 2017 and headlined an exclusive show at Zone 7 in Kampala.
Starting my our set with Phakama Africa, a call for the continent to unite, I performed songs from my latest album, old favourites and also covering african classics Malaika by Mama Africa Mirriam Makeba and Neria by Oliver Mtukudzi, which captivated the audience to such an extent that I was called back for a double encore after a standing ovation from fans in the crowd.
Truly unforgettable experience, i enjoyed every moment of being on stage. I got to share the stage with Uganda’s finest session musicians and also learning a few East African dance moves along the way.
It is my dream to take my music all around the world, but first beginning in my continent. I look forward to returning to East Africa very soon.
Look out for Part 2 of this article as I share my Kampala street moments with you.
Love and blessings,
